Historic Modernity
Layered. Elegant. Unexpected.
Overview
Set within a stately 1906 Pacific Heights residence, this project reflects Lizette Marie Interior Design’s layered and imaginative approach. Tasked with balancing a wife’s traditional leanings and a husband’s modern sensibilities, the design strikes a seamless chord between historic elegance and contemporary vibrancy. Neutral walls and contrasting millwork set the stage for bold fabrics and furnishings. As the project evolved—expanding square footage throughout to accommodate a growing family—the home became a true collaboration. Through a dynamic and trusting partnership with the clients, LMID introduced daring patterns and color stories that pushed beyond their comfort zone. The result is a residence that feels timeless yet alive, personalized yet elevated—an inspiring canvas for modern family life.

“This home reflects my love of layering with each element adding depth, meaning, and surprise. It allowed us to honor tradition while fearlessly weaving in the bold and the unexpected.”
