Tradition + Edge

Timeless. Traditional. Modern.

Overview

In this 1883 Pacific Heights home, LMID crafted “the best of both worlds” with a rich interplay of tradition and modernity, making for a space that is both approachable and sophisticated. While honoring the home’s historic Victorian details—ornate moldings, wainscoting, and a carved newel post—Lizette introduced bold contemporary elements. A reimagined fireplace in rough-cut marble, a suspended brass bar cabinet, and sculptural modern lighting fixtures provide dramatic contrast and sophistication.

In close collaboration with the clients—who developed a passion for collecting art along the way—Lizette transformed each room into a layered visual story. Neutral walls paired with unexpected materials, asymmetrical compositions, and subtle textures allow the home’s classic architecture to shine anew. The result is a seamless, soulful blend of past and present, tailored for family life and creative exploration.

“This home is an expression of contrast, where preserved Victorian architecture meets sculptural modern elements. Every layer was carefully considered to celebrate both elegance and edge.”
